….Commission New Projects

St. Mary’s High School, Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State, on Saturday, 10th December 2022, celebrated Diamond Jubilee Anniversary that featured a administering of the Sacrament of confirmation, investiture of new students, awards/prize giving and commissioning of new projects.
The well-packed celebration started with an Episcopal Mass of thanksgiving where 235 students of St. Mary’s High School were confirmed through the Sacrament of Confirmation. His lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, bishop, Awka Diocese, during his homily, emphasized the need for quality education.
‘When you look out for schools for your children and wards, it is very vital that you consider so many things. You consider especially what type of education is being offered to this child; is it taking care of both the spiritual and the materials?’ he said.
During the Mass the bishop blessed the uniform and the students who did the investiture.
Bishop Ezeokafor declared the academic year 2022/2033 officially open with the academic goal; “To become the best version of myself through a disciplined academic excellence”.
After the Mass, the bishop blessed and commissioned the new projects of the school that included an asphalted road, JSS1 classroom blocks, 120 solar panels with 40kva inverter, new hostel blocks with 110 bunks, 220 foams and pillows, and solar powered borehole with an overhead tank.
Speaking with Fides, Rev. Fr. Dr. Ugoo Ngana, Principal and Manager of St. Mary’s High School, expressed delight for the success of the programme.
‘I am full of thanks to God for his favours and blessings upon us. I thank our invited guests who made our day. Seriously, I am overjoyed,’ he said.
Awards were given to various students who excelled in various subjects during the academic calendar.
