The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, recently, at St. Ann’s Hospital and Maternity Ward, Abba, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, blessed and commissioned the newly built and equipped modern hospital and maternity Ward built and donated to Awka Diocese by Akpua Family.
The family of the late Samuel Akpua of Abba, Njikoka LGA, donated a state-of-the-art hospital and maternity ward to the Catholic Diocese of Awka, providing a major boost to healthcare delivery in Abba and surrounding communities.
The facility, located within St. Ann’s Hospital and Maternity, Abba, was commissioned and blessed recently during a solemn Holy Mass presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor.
In his homily, Bishop Ezeokafor praised the Akpua Family for their generosity, describing the donation as a “lasting legacy” that will serve generations to come. He emphasized that the new hospital and maternity ward, not only honour the memory of Late Samuel Akpua, but also stand as a beacon of hope for improved medical services in the region.
Handing over the keys of the facility to the bishop, Ambassador Josephine Akpua (wife of Late Samuel Akpua) said the hospital symbolizes her family’s commitment to preserving her husband’s legacy while addressing pressing healthcare needs in Abba Town and beyond.
The bishop later blessed and commissioned the facility, urging other families and philanthropists, to emulate such acts of charity that directly uplift communities.
