By Michael Nnebife
The marital journey of Mr Paul Okeke and his beautiful bride, former Miss Judith Igwe, began on January 7, with the couple being charged to embrace love and prayer in order for their union to blossom.
The solemnization of the Holy Matrimony, presided over by an Australia-based Catholic Priest, Rev Fr Jude Agorchukwu, took place at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Archbishop A. K. Obiefuna Retreat and Pastoral Centre, Okpuno-Awka, attended by families of the couple from Nawfija in Orumba South Local Government Area of the state; friends and well-wishers; members of the Nawfija Progressive Union, Awka Branch, among others.
In a homily during the solemnization of the Holy Matrimony, the Manager and Principal, St Anthony’s Catholic Comprehensive Institute, Agulu, Rev Fr Henry Oduenyi, highlighted love, and prayer as the keys to a successful marriage.
Fr Oduenyi, who poisited that God created a woman not to relax and enjoy the man’s wealth, but to help him increase his wealth, admonished Paul and Judith to complement each other in all things.
Oduenyi gave the new couple some tips and keys to unlock what he described as a successful and super marriage.
‘Number one is true love; hold it firmly; this will help you to understand yourself and persevere in this journey.
‘Another one is prayer. Pray together always, even with your children,’ the Catholic cleric advised the couple, urging them to use love and prayer to form the foundation of their marriage.
‘If you do so, your marital life will be super successful,’ Fr Oduenyi assured them.
The cleric further advised married couples among the congratulation that came to witness the solemnization of the matrimony, to use the opportunity to reflect on their marital lives and make amends where necessary.
Speaking with Fides shortly after the Holy Mass, Mr Paul and his wife, Judith, said they were overwhelmed with joy and expressed gratitude to God for making their intentions a reality.
‘I’m a happy man today because I have made a right choice, having Judith as my life partner,’ the new husband said.
‘Paul is Obim; he is a good person, so loving, and God-fearing. I choose him today and forever,’ Judith for her part, said.
Thereafter, the new couple and the congregation held a colourful reception, where the couple performed their first assignments as husband and wife amid the cheers and admirations of their relations, as well as their friends and well-wishers.
Speaking with Fides, a stakeholder of Nawfija Community, Sir Ifediorah Michael Ibemesi, who chaired the reception, described Paul as a good young man, and prayed God to bless his marriage.
The Chairman advised Paul and Judith to avoid allowing a third party into their marriage.
Some of their friends, who included Mr Kelechukwu Nwafor and Ms Miracle Duru, also corroborated the Chairman, describing Paul and his wife as persons with good hearts.
Mr Nwafor and Ms Duru, who spoke with Fides, wished the new couple a successful and joy-filled marriage
Nuptial dance by the couple, and cutting of wedding cake, were among the highlights of the reception, which took place at Hilton Leisure Garden Hotel, Awka.
