The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, celebrated his birthday at Awka on January 21, 2026 with a day of compassion and faith. He began by touring three charitable institutions in Awka – Model Community Children’s Home, Faith Community Children’s Home, and God’s Care School for Special Needs – where he presented gifts, shared words of encouragement, and pledged continued support for vulnerable children.
Later that afternoon, a Pontifical Mass was held at St Thomas Aquinas’ Catholic Parish, presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor. The ceremony gathered the diocesan old priests resident at Aquinas’ Parish, the Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubisi; the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Francis Oranye and more than fifteen concelebrating priests, creating a solemn, yet joyous atmosphere.
In his homily, Bishop Ezeokafor highlighted Ezeokenwa’s “service driven leadership” and

called on the congregation to emulate his generosity.
Attendees, including party faithful, community leaders, and children from the visited homes, expressed gratitude for the chairman’s humility and commitment to social welfare.
The celebration underscored a blend of civic responsibility and spiritual reflection, reinforcing APGA’s message of inclusive development and community care. Other highlights of the celebration were special prayer said to the celebrant, Barr. Sly and his wife, Ugosimba Amara Sly Ezeokenwa who celebrated her birthday on 18th January, 2026; and reception party after the mass.
