Priests are Called by Christ – Bishop Ezeokafor at Chrism Mass/ Cathedraticum

By Jude Atupulazi

Determined not to depart from the tradition of their family in helping society, and following in their father’s footsteps, two sons of Ifitedunu in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Julius Ezeani Asokwu Sea, CPA, and Nexus Uzoma Asokwu Sea, Esq, Sunday, May 18, empowered the Community Vigilante of Ifitedunu with a donation of six brand new motorcycles to boost security in the area.

Dr Francis Asokwu Sea, an uncle, who represented the family, said the donation would significantly enhance the town’s local security operations and allow for more effective, real-time responses to emergencies and distress calls.

The motorcycles were formally presented on their behalf by Dr. Francis Asokwu-Sea, to a grateful President General, Ifitedunu Town Union, Engr. Prof Stephen Ufoaroh, who received them on behalf of the people of Ifitedunu.

According to Dr Francis Asokwu Sea, the gesture was more than just a gift, but a tribute to their late father, Chief Dr. Julius Asokwu Sea, known variously as Onowu New Jersey, Sea World, and Akata-Isi-Ebue, whom he described as a revered community leader who embodied the virtues of humility, leadership, empathy, and service to his people.

‘Though a decade has passed since his transition, his spirit of generosity continues to guide his children’s work and inspires their unwavering commitment to their hometown and community at large.

‘This moment is as much our father’s as it is ours,’ said Julius and Nexus in a joint message, while noting that everything they did for Ifitedunu was rooted in their late father’s example, depicting his love for their people, his belief in Ifitedunu’s promise, and his quiet but powerful commitment to protecting and uplifting the community.

Upholding a Legacy of Leadership

Both brothers were recently, recognized and honoured by their hometown, with chieftaincy titles conferred on them by HRH, Igwe Dr. Emeka Ilouno, Ezedunu of Ifitedunu, a development that reflected not only their personal and professional accomplishments, but also their continued service to the people of Ifitedunu.

Julius Ezeani Sea, CPA, a U.S.-based financial technology strategist and co-founder of Silicon Africa, was conferred the prestigious title of Ajie Ifitedunu. He is a seasoned professional with leadership roles at firms like Deloitte, KPMG, and UBS. Julius’s track record reflects a deep commitment to innovation, empowerment, and grassroots engagement.

Nexus Uzoma Sea, Esq., a partner at the elite law firm O’Melveny & Myers LLP, was named Onwa N’etili Ora Ifitedunu. Nexus is a nationally recognized litigator and trial lawyer, and founder of Naija We Can, in the U.S.  Nexus remains committed, through mentorship, advocacy, and impactful leadership, to lifting others as he climbs – building bridges between justice, opportunity, and lasting impact across borders.

Together, the Sea Brothers represent a new generation of global Nigerian professionals who continue to be deeply anchored in their roots. Their recent donation reflects that ethos—turning success into service.

‘Our donation to the Ifitedunu Vigilante Security Service is to help ensure effective community policing, as well as prompt, speedy, and real-time response to security emergencies and stress calls within the town,’ they explained.

A Vision in Motion

The six motorcycles and cash donation will be deployed immediately to help patrol the town’s streets, protect its residents, and deter criminal activity – further strengthening Ifitedunu’s capacity to protect its people.

This gesture comes at a time when communities across Nigeria are increasingly looking inward for homegrown solutions to security and development challenges. For Julius and Nexus, it is not about headlines – it is about heritage.

‘This is about giving back to the place that gave us everything, to the elders who raised us, the children growing up now, and the dream of peace our father always held close,’ Nexus stated.

Francis Asokwu Sea, while speaking at the event, said his family donated over N10m last year into the empowerment of youths in various schemes, while this year, over N9m has been donated.

‎this was even as he announced plans to install security cameras in the community.

‎Two of the motorcycles were given to Umuanugo, Village, while the other four went to the larger Ifitedunu Community. A total of N1.5m was given for fueling the motorcycles‎.

‎The President General of Ifitedunu thanked the donors and expressed happiness that the gesture was only the beginning, noting that CCTV cameras would be mounted next.

‎The event was also attended by Rev Fr Victor Igwegbe, Parish Priest, St Mary’s Parish, Ifitedunu; Amb Iyke Onyegbu, Chairman Umuanugo Village, Ifitedunu, and other dignitaries.

Highlight of the event was the handing over of the motorcycles by Dr Francis Asokwu Sea on behalf of the family to the Ifitedunu Community through the PG.
